President Obama's government-centered worldview

Governments are formed for many reasons.  Our government was formed to secure our unalienable rights--with which we are endowed by our Creator--including the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  Sound familiar?

A fundamental aspect of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution is the right to private property.  But President Obama's views of property are different than mine.  He believes, for example, that our government "can't afford" tax cuts for certain people.  To me, that is nonsense.

Consider the word "afford."  (No, really -- please think about it.)  President Obama seems to think that money STARTS in the hands of the government, that it BELONGS to the government, and that it should only go to certain individuals if the government can AFFORD to hand it out to them.  Like an allowance from a parent to her son.

As another example, if my brother were destitute and needed a car, I might tell him that I can afford to buy him a car.  In doing so, I've announced a decision on what I can do with MY resources, and my brother is the beneficiary.  But if I can't afford a car for him, he might have to get by with a bicycle.

President Obama is treating us all like a destitute brother, and he's telling some of us that he can't afford to give us a car (tax cut); we'll have to settle for a bicycle.  That is not my view of government.  Remember that, under our American government, rights (including property rights) come from the Creator to individuals and are only secured (not doled out) by the government.

Our government owns NO money, except for money that originates with and is taken from the citizenry.  Some of this taking is necessary, but not a single dollar of the government's revenue should be treated as an allowance to be given to a child or a car purchase to benefit a a destitute brother.

I am not arguing here that any one person's taxes are too high or too low.  Rather, I'm arguing that everyone's taxes are paid from their own money into the federal treasury, and that therefore the President should respect everyone who pays taxes.

President Obama has also remarked that he believes that "at some point you've made enough money."

Why would the President of the United States make this remark?  What amount of money does he think is enough for YOU to earn?  And how did he determine that amount?  And what is he doing to help ensure that you don't keep more than that amount?

Of course, President Obama's views on private property and the origin of wealth are well known, as captured in this famous (and revealing) statement about who builds American business:
